I live in the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains of Western NC, near the Blue Ridge Parkway. I love visiting my family who are spread out across the country. I like to be active: walking, hiking, camping. I tent camp, by myself. It is a nice peaceful break away from civilization; being among the trees, in the mountains, along a river is very refreshing. I am healthy, and young for my age. I try to walk a mile a day. I am an introvert with some social anxiety, but I don’t let that stop me. My callings have stretched me and I have grown tremendously through them. I am slow to let people in and tend to keep to myself, with a group of very close friends that I enjoy getting together with, and a warm and wonderful church family. I am curious and open to new adventures. My grandchildren used to call me “silly mom-mom”, and I still have a silly streak. I have a positive, yet realistic outlook on life. A little piece of joy resides in my heart. I have a 9 year old boxer/bulldog, rescued from the Humane Society at age 4. I have 3 grown children, 8 grand kids, 2 great grand-kids. I retired at age 66 from the Department of Veteran Affairs, where I was a medical insurance biller. My dad was in the U. S. Air Force for 20 years, so I grew up on Air Force Bases, and got to travel and live in many different states, and in Japan. I love to travel, and have visited 21 of our National Parks so far. Taking road trips to see different parts of the country, especially national parks and historic sites, is a lot of fun. Yes, I mostly travel alone, although my daughter is my cruise ship companion. We both enjoy cruising. She lives with me right now until she can afford an apartment. I have been a widow since 2007, when my husband died from cancer. I am sealed him, so am looking for a partner to spend the rest of my days with. But am cautious. It’s a little scary taking this step, but I am tired of being alone.
