- About Me:
-
I am a military brat, so lived all over, born in Tucson AZ. Widowed. Served mission in Florida Tampa. High priest. Married in Idaho Falls temple. During my 45-year marriage, I lived in Logan UT, Denver CO, Beaverton OR, Rochester NY, Danbury CT, Houston TX, Niceville FL, and back to Houston. I'm fortunate that my job is one of my main hobbies. At home I enjoy auto mechanics, photography, running a recording studio, woodworking, playing guitar, singing, reading, short trips to recreational spots and attractions. In the past, I played reeded woodwinds with my favorite being baritone sax. I am an avid motorcycle rider, having ridden my Gold Wing to both borders and coast to coast. Trips are best with a companion, often my children. I don't currently own a motorcycle due to the amount of time needed to provide care for multiple loved ones. I like science in general and medical themes. I read lots of science fiction. I will read mystery, drama, archeology, biographies, history, etc. I average about 200 books per year of fiction and 25 per year of non-fiction. I like watching movies but would rather spend my time in other pursuits. Television has become so bad that when I watch, it’s usually the news or documentaries, Dr. Who or Star Trek. I’m not much at playing games and don’t care for sports of any kind. That being said, I do enjoy archery, bowling, pool and roller skating although I’m not very good at any of them. I love studying the gospel and church history. I have done a lot of traveling for my employer, some international. It has left me wanting to stay close to home. I had pets growing up and decided, as an adult, not to have pets, largely due to allergies. I spent a lot of time volunteering at schools when my children attended, but today's environment doesn't let non-parents volunteer any more. I enjoy teaching. I don't like the term "In-Law" to describe the family I married into or the families my children marry into. To me, these people are family. I am shy, almost introverted. Given an introduction and a topic, I can converse and communicate well but have a difficult time meeting people. I prefer deep discussions rather than superficial topics. I consider myself loyal, honest, compassionate, hardworking, devoted to family, charitable, humble, curious, loving, romantic and a disciple of Jesus Christ. I like hugs, holding hands, cuddling, good communication and quiet time, just being with someone I love. I enjoy giving service, but like my difficulties in meeting people, I have a hard time engaging. I have been described as being romantic, sentimental, fun, dry sense of humor, process oriented, detail oriented, loving, kind, compassionate, generous, respectful, traditional (gentleman, chivalrous), loyal, humble, gentle.

I am looking for someone to converse with, develop into a friendship, and eventually marry. I’m not opposed to a civil marriage if that person is already sealed. My loyalty to those I love, however, would encourage me to be sealed instead or in addition. I’m looking for someone who is devoted to living the gospel of Jesus Christ, is passionate, fun, kind, intelligent, organized, romantic and sentimental. Who is sure of themselves, compassionate, willing to be cared for and willing to care for someone else. I consider marriage to be a partnership of equals, yet allowing each to have their own interests, specialties and capabilities. I want to develop a spiritually mature relationship rooted in the gospel. I’m not the kind of person who goes looking at the body first. I look at who a person is. I want them to feel comfortable in their own skin, and willing to show their natural self. I have a firm testimony of the Atonement and its ability to let the past be the past. I see a first date as an opportunity to get to know one another and you don’t generally do that with solitary activities like movies, theater or concerts. Instead, a location or activity that permits conversation and interaction one on one. Lunch, dinner, walks, sitting and enjoying nature all fit into this classification. I prefer dates with substance without a lot of cost, be it financial, emotional, or physical. It is a time to be together to get to know each other, not impress with one or two puffed up abilities or resources. Learning how to have fun and accomplishing tasks together is part of the later dating process.

I love the Gospel of Jesus Christ and have a fervent testimony that he lives, loves us, and fulfilled his mission regarding the plan of salvation. As a result, we can all return to our Heavenly Father as families. Having a hard time meeting people, missionary work can be difficult, but after introductions, I am passionate about teaching the Gospel. I like attending the temple regularly. I worked in the Portland Oregon Temple Baptistry on the opening crew. This was one of my favorite callings. I have held many different callings including teaching, clerk, family history consultant, high priest group leadership, and building librarian. I was born in the church but my mom couldn’t drive and my biological dad was inactive. He did see that his children received baby blessings and he baptized me. Getting to church at that time was difficult. My mom remarried when I was 12 to a wonderful man. He took my mom to the temple and us children to church. That’s when I learned about the gospel. He taught me how to be a priesthood holder and I have fond memories of being his home teaching companion. I am now sealed to him with my mother. I served a mission and was sealed to my wife of 45 years. I know that I will be with her again. My favorite scriptures are hard to select. I love the book of Ether because of its compact telling and the power of the brother of Jared’s faith. I love 3rd Nephi because of the Savior’s visit to the ministry and how it clarifies and solidifies his NewTestament teachings. How he was able to name and love each and every one of the 2500 Nephites present. I love Mosiah, just because it speaks to me. I’ve personally witnessed many miracles and have a strong sense of the spirit and how the Lord loves his children.
