Born in the State of Washington, I was lucky to grow up with the teachings of the Church and serve a mission in Germany. Following that, my life has been lived in several parts of the U.S., along with travel and business-related work in 33 countries. I was lucky to be well educated, earning a Ph.D., then was a professor at three universities, and then a professor and dean of the College of Business at the University of Nebraska. My next career move was to establish and raise capital for a private equity fund to invest in clean energy production in the U.S. I also authored a book, "The Future of Clean Energy" on the now very important subject of the production and use of clean energy in the world, More important and meaningful than anything else I did or do, I am a devoted father of five grown children as well as grandfather of a steadily growing bundle of grandkids. The principles of behavior and living life of the Church are of immense importance to me as they provide a guide to living a happy and fulfilling life. Now some things about many philosophy of life. I firmly believe that a person's "success and happiness" are largely a result of a "this will be your life" lottery with tickets labeled "the genes I get, who will take care of me in my formative years, and where in the world will I be born" plus what "luck" will I have during my life. Many things that happen in life are actually a matter of good or bad luck. Everyone gets different lottery tickets, some being toward the favorable "winning" part of luck and some to the unfavorable "losing" part of luck. Think of much of person's life as a cumulative sum of the luck of life. That's why living life according to the Christian principles of humility, love, respect and forgiveness are so important. My curiosity about virtually everything is insatiable, as I like to do anything that is good clean fun, educational, inspiring, beautiful, good for my mind or physical fitness, and culturally or spiritually uplifting. I believe in the 13th Article of faith: "If there is anything virtuous, lovely or of good report, we seek after these things". I'm a "fun, energetic, curious, happy, well educated, healthy enthusiastic, humorous, "I'll try anything once" kind of guy.
