About Me:

Living a gospel centred life, enjoying time with family are priorities in my life. Having been a teacher for almost 30 years before retiring in 2022, I like to believe my students kept me 'young at heart', and fostered my curiosity, love of learning in diverse areas, passion for reading, and playfulness. I like to believe that I learned as much from them as I was able to impart to them - compassion, forgiveness, resiliency, patience, understanding, humour, amongst other things.

Henry David Thoreau once wrote, 'I took a walk in the woods and came out taller than the trees.' And so it is that I particularly enjoy getting outside and enjoying the wonders of nature through walking, getting as much vitamin 'n' (nature) as possible. I am particularly enjoying living in Calgary because of the wonderful walking paths that crisscross the city. I do also enjoy listening to classic Jazz, Big Band, and Great American Songbook; watching movies, especially classics; working on puzzles and playing board games; reading, reading, reading (so many books, so little time ); practicing my fledgling culinary skills on whomever will allow me that opportunity; humour, laughter; exploring new places, experiencing new things. I am looking forward to finding ways to support and lift others in the community through volunteer activity once I have fully settled in to my home.

LDS singles I'd Like to Meet:

Friendship, trust, honesty and romance are foundational, and I am seeking a kindred spirit to share these with. I need to meet a Temple worthy individual who has a deep and abiding love of our Saviour and the Gospel. Like Mr. Chipping, in James Hilton's book about an English school master, 'Goodbye Mr. Chips', I am looking forward to meeting a special someone who has a passion for life, is outgoing, and will love me for the person I am. I would relate really well to someone who is able to easily and readily express their thoughts and feelings, taking time as well to really listen and understand. Having a 'glass half-full', view of the world, a propensity to look on the bright or positive side of things, I would value the same trait in another person. I have never been afraid of work, and would appreciate someone with the same work ethic.

Church of Jesus Christ:

I would like to partake in a service mission. Wise to the ways of the world but anchored in the Gospel, I enjoy studying the Gospel and particularly gaining insights from the 'Come Follow Him' podcasts, as well as other ones.

Russell H. Conwell conveyed in his classic book/lecture, 'Acres of Diamonds', that one does not have to 'go off to find one's fortune (or own adventure)' when it is in your own backyard or just staring you in the face. Calgary is the place where I will find the things I am seeking and as such, I do not want to relocate from the city.
